Itinerary

Day 1:

Depart Boston at 10:20pm nonstop to Dubai (12 hours) connect to nonstop flight to Bangkok

 

Day 3:

Arrive Bangkok 8:00am, accommodations for 2 nights at either

The Sukhothai or Peninsula Bangkok

Grand Palace & Emerald Buddha Tour

Ask anyone who has been to Bangkok what their ‘must see’ list of the city entails, and without fail they’ll include The Grand Palace. This half-day sightseeing tour in Bangkok is a perfect arrival tour and will allow you the opportunity to explore the complex, accompanied by a local guide. The Grand Palace Complex is home to a number of attractions including Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha).

 

Day 4:

Ayutthaya Temples & River Cruise

Visit the Ayutthaya temples on a cultural day trip from Bangkok, it’s a highlight of any Thailand visit. The tour to the ancient capital of Siam includes a trip by riverboat, a must-do activity when you’re in Bangkok, with close-up views of the temples and historic sites that line the Chao Phraya River.

Day 5: 

Quick, non-stop flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai for 4 nights

at either The Four Seasons Chiang Mai or Dhara Dhevi

Afternoon Tour:  City & Temples

Includes:

Pick up at hotel, visits to Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Chiang Man and Wat Suan Dok, local fruit market and handcrafted village.

 

Day 6: 

Full day Doi Inthanon & Karen Hilltribes

8 hours – Doi Inthanon is the highest peak in Thailand. Courtesy of the Thai Air Force who have a radar at the summit, their is a well-maintained road right up to the top. The mountain is a continuation of the Himalayan chain, though lush evergreen forest and mists are its clothing, rather than snow. On the lower slopes hilltribe people cultivate vegetables and herbs whereas the forest and mosses, dwarf rhododendron groves inhabit the damp higher reaches. The area is popular for bird-watching with a variety of species, many from North Asia including mountain hawks and Eurasian woodcocks. Other sights include Karen hilltribe villages, Wachiratharn Waterfall and the twin pagodas commemorating the sixtieth birthdays of King Bhumiphol and Queen Sirikit. The summit contains the shrine of Chao Inthawichayanon, a former ruler of Chiang Mai.

Day 7: 

Day at leisure in Chiang Mai (relax poolside, spa, etc.)

Afternoon Thai Cooking Class & Market Visit

 

Day 8: 

Elephant Experience at Patara

7:30am – 4:00pm

Experience includes, hiking to find the elephant in the bush, training on approaching, feeding, etc., bareback riding lesson, beliefs on Elephants by the Thai culture, relaxing trip up the mountain, waterfall picnic and time in the water with your elephantTransfer back to your hotel.

 

Day 9: 

Depart Chiang Mai at 7:00am to Maldives, arriving at 11:00am local time

5 nights stay at either Baros Resort or Como Maldives

 

Day 12: 

Depart Maldives 11pm to return home to Boston; your flight will have one connection in Dubai and arrive Boston the same day 2:15pm local time
