Frozen – Getting Hot & Hitched In Telluride
When I first met Ashley & Peter, they were new clients of mine, wanting to plan their first ski trip. Since they first hit the slopes as a couple, they have become true ski enthusiasts, stealing away to the snow whenever they can! I love these two for so many reasons…they are two awesome parts of a very amazing whole! They live life with romance, adventure and travel!
So, when they approached me about their Destination Wedding, my mind immediately went to images of Caribbean sunsets, crystal clear water and a beautiful couple standing on a pristine beach somewhere. In my minds eye, I was there too…tan, dressed in a tiny, breezy dress, relaxed, drinking something with an umbrella coming out of it and basking in the love and romance as my sweet clients tied the knot.
Well, Miss Ash had a very different idea of what her wedding was going to be. It was going to be high in the sky, it was going to be freezing, it was going to be snow-covered and anyone attending would require several pieces of checked luggage if they had any intention of staying warm. Peter and Ashley wanted to ski, get married, ski some more and they trusted Bliss by Luxury Concierge Travel to find the perfect Winter Wonderland!
After literally months of looking at different options throughout the U.S. West, they chose the beautiful little Colorado town of Telluride, Colorado. The wedding took place the last Friday in February 2014 and I headed out there a few days early.
We worked from the moment we landed in Colorado until the moment we left. I wasn’t dressed in a tiny little dress, tan, relaxed and basking in the love as Peter & Ashley said “I do”. No, I was wearing a black dress, black tights, Duck Boots and a North Face Bubble Ski coat. I didn’t have time to do my hair, put jewelry on or make my make-up look perfect. Truth be told – I didn’t have time to shower that day! But, read on….
What I experienced was Wedding Heaven. An incredible group of friends, huddled under beautiful blankets, overlooking the mountains as the snow came down as if on cue from the heavens above. An incredibly handsome man stood waiting for his bride to appear. And there she was, Ashley looked…well, there are just really no words. She was beyond beautiful, her smile and shimmer in her eyes enough to heat up the entire mountain. There I stood, freezing and catching her fly away veil (the wind took it the moment she stepped outside), watching two of my favorite clients profess their love in a setting only God himself could have designed. Magical, yes. Breathtaking, yes. But really, I have no words.
In the end, my team of agents and the vendors we partnered with came together to pull off a mind-blowing and heart-warming event that goes down in my career as a shining moment. I was honored to work with the most talented people in Colorado, to hang with the coolest friends a couple could have, to be in the most majestic place I have ever been, and to witness the most passionate couple pledge their lives to each other forever.
I’ve waited to write this blog post until I had some of the pictures from the world’s best photographer (Nathan) so that maybe, just maybe, you could get a sense of how amazing this all really was.
Will our team create other incredible Destination Weddings? Absolutely! One of Ashley’s best friends is working with me on a tropical (thank you thank you!) wedding right now. Hers will be another story…another chapter for all of us to anticipate. But Ashley & Peter in Telluride…? They’ve set the bar high. The expectations are elevated and the possibilities are endless!
So, I close with a note to Ash & Peter – Thank you for allowing Bliss by Luxury Concierge Travel to orchestrate and be part of your wedding. Thank you for who you are individually and as a couple. Thank you for blessing me with a unique and rare gift – the blessing of clients becoming friends. You make my life better and I will continue to create memorable experiences for you to cross off your Bliss List as the years go by!
